In the latest show, Sue talks about:

  • There’s a bit of good news, but the job market for marketers remains challenging. Our team has seen a slight pick-up in hiring compared to earlier this year, but senior-level marketing positions remain scarce amid economic uncertainty and cautious corporate spending.

  • The hiring paradox is real. We discuss why marketing leaders are struggling to find good candidates when there are so many good candidates looking for jobs.

  • Hiring managers should consider “hiring up.” Many manager consider senior talent as too costly or flight risks, but many experienced marketers are prioritizing meaningful work over pay or titles.

  • Job seekers need to become AI “conversant.” No one can be expected to be an AI expert, but candidates should be able to talk intelligently about AI tools and marketing use cases.

After many years as a marketing leader and consultant in the telecom, technology, satellite and association sectors, Sue joined Landrum Talent Solutions (formerly Ceres Talent) to marry her passion for helping organizations build effective marketing strategies with her love of connecting great people. Sue started her career as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche and then made the leap to marketing when she joined MCI, followed by a succession of senior marketing positions at various telecom companies. She serves on the Board of Aspire! Afterschool Learning and the Marketing and Communications Committee for Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS). She earned a dual major in Accounting and French from James Madison University and is a recovering CPA.
